10 Social Media Content Ideas for April 2019

content ideas Mar 31, 2019

We hear it all too often, business owners who are stuck for ideas on what to post on their social feeds beyond selling their products or services. They write a post, add a beautiful photo… only to hear crickets. Sound familiar?

If you’re struggling to think of social media content ideas, we've got you covered with these 10 content ideas for the month of April.

It's time to get those posts planned and posted!

1.  1st April - April Fools

Did you know that laughing helps lower stress levels? No joke! And April Fools is the perfect day to celebrate laughter and connect with people.

When it comes to April Fools and your online audience, if you feel it is appropriate for your audience, go ahead and have a little bit of fun with a well thought out practical joke. Keep in mind, it must be relevant to the brand, and be sure to think it through before you post as this can backfire if done in poor taste.

2.  2nd April - International Children's Book Day

The 2nd April is International Children's Book Day and since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books.

If your audience has a connection to children or literature in some way, this is the perfect theme for you to get on board. Get creative with your posts by creating videos, taking photos of a stack of books or you reading with your children, sharing information about authors, using memes, etc. Or you could share your favourite children's book quote or ask your audience what the favourite is in their little one's library.

3.  4th April - World Stray Animals Day

April 4 is the day for Compassion, Care, and Action for Stray Dogs and Cats Worldwide.

It’s a great time to show compassion and contribute to this important cause by sharing information about local events, or information about a local shelter. You could even use the power of social media to arrange for collection of items to your office such as towels, blankets etc to help support a local shelter.

4. 7th April - World Health Day.

The World Health Organisation has been operating for 70 years this year. The key message for 2019 is universal health coverage. Key to achieving it is ensuring that everyone can obtain the care they need, when they need it, right in the heart of the community.

There are many ways you can get involved to help raise awareness for the less privileged. Check out this website to see how you can play your part. Don’t forget to check out their social media channels for some excellent content you can share to get the conversation going.

Take the time to share health tips or strategies with your audience or ask them for their best health and wellness tip!

5. 10th April - Siblings Day

The bond between siblings is extra-special. Sibling Day is a way of honouring that special bond. Siblings Day was created by Claudia Evart, a freelance paralegal from Manhattan, NY. Evart started the day after losing both her sisters at an early age. It is a day of celebration and recognition for brothers and sisters around the world.

Get involved in the national siblings day and take time to appreciate your brother or sister. You can join the conversation about siblings day through the hashtag #NationalSiblingsDay

6. 21st April – Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday has endless possibilities of content to share. There's chocolate, bunnies, family gatherings, reflection, origins of Easter, holidays and more. So pick your angle and create appropriate content for your audience.

Here are some quick Easter themed ideas:

  • simply wishing people a Happy Easter
  • ask a question about what Easter means for your community and create a slideshow to share
  • run an Easter egg hunt promotion on your website or hide eggs in images and make it a challenge
  • share what you will be doing over the Easter break and asking others the same
  • give people tips on having a meaningful Easter or things they can do during the break

7. 22nd April - Earth Day

#EarthDay2019

Earth Day Network works year-round to solve climate change, to end plastic pollution, to protect endangered species, and to broaden, educate, and activate the environmental movement across the globe.

Earth Day is an important message for everyone, making this a great day to join the conversation:

  • Share a beautiful image of nature (and don’t forget to credit the photographer if it wasn’t you!). Include an important message about doing your part to preserve the natural beauty.
  • You might like to share your ideas on how to upcycle around the home.
  • Or perhaps even ways your office is taking part in protecting our natural environment.
  • If you sell or produce eco-friendly products to help eliminate waste, this is the ideal time to be posting.

8. 25th April – Anzac Day

This is the Australian and New Zealand national day of remembrance that commemorates the first landing at Gallipoli and more recently, those who have served and died in all wars, conflict and peace keeping operations.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand, you might like to mark the occasion in some way. A simple, respectful piece of content is appropriate or you may like to go further and encourage followers to share what ANZAC Day means to them.
